i know english wine, from the inside

I’m Hannah, a commercial and marketing specialist with more than a decade’s experience in English wine and another decade before that in hospitality.

I joined Ridgeview as English wine tourism and direct sales were beginning to gather pace. I was responsible for everything consumer-facing, from the tasting room and events to ecommerce, before becoming part of the launch team at Artelium.

At Artelium, I built the direct-to-consumer and hospitality side of the business from the ground up. That meant developing the brand’s customer journeys, wine club, events, ecommerce, campaigns and experiences, alongside the full on-site food and beverage offer.

But the job was never simply to improve one channel. It was to understand how the offer, operation, marketing and customer experience worked together, and then make the commercial and practical decisions that moved the whole business forward.

WHY I DO THIS?

I believe English wine deserves more than admiration from within its own industry. It deserves fuller tasting rooms, busier online shops, stronger customer relationships and, ultimately, more liquid making its way into more people’s glasses.

The wines are increasingly brilliant and the opportunity is enormous. But producing something exceptional doesn’t automatically make it easy to discover, understand or buy.

That’s why I chose fractional and consultancy work. I want to help more English wine businesses turn their ambition into commercially sustainable growth and to do it in a way that strengthens the wider industry, rather than keeping useful experience locked inside one business.

My work sits in the space between a good idea and making it happen: shaping the offer, identifying the commercial opportunity, improving the customer journey and then doing the practical work required to move it forward.

HOW I WORK

I work particularly well with founder-led and growing businesses, where the opportunities are exciting, the list is long and everything is connected to everything else.

I’ll ask questions, look properly at the numbers and say when I think something needs challenging. But I’m equally comfortable writing the emails, restructuring the page, building the tracker or working through the setup.

I don’t believe strategy should end with a presentation and a list of things for somebody else to do. The useful part is connecting commercial thinking with the practical work needed to deliver it.

Clients bring me in for a defined project, a particular commercial challenge or ongoing senior support without adding another permanent role.

I’m based in East Sussex and work with clients remotely, with time on site when being there will genuinely add something.
